Conversation Scripts
Use these proven conversation starters when the topic comes up naturally — or proactively during policy reviews.
1Client says: 'I'm thinking about letting my policy lapse.'
"Before you do that, there's an option most people don't know about. You may be able to sell your policy for significantly more than the surrender value — sometimes 3 to 8 times more. Would you like me to look into it?"
2Client says: 'I saw an ad on TV about selling my life insurance.'
"I'm glad you mentioned that. Those companies exist, but not all are equal. I work with a licensed, flat-fee broker I trust. Let me get you a no-cost evaluation so you know what your policy is actually worth — before calling any 800 number."
3Client says: 'The premiums are too expensive to maintain.'
"That's actually one of the most common reasons people qualify for a life settlement. Rather than surrendering for pennies on the dollar, we can find out if there are institutional buyers willing to pay significantly more."
4Client says: 'My beneficiary no longer needs the death benefit.'
"That's a perfect candidate for a life settlement. The policy has value to institutional investors. Instead of walking away from it, your client could receive a lump sum — often far more than the cash surrender value."
Quick Qualification Checklist
If a client matches 2 or more of these criteria, they're worth a no-cost evaluation.
- Insured is age 65+ (some cases 55+)
- Policy face value $100,000 or more
- Universal Life, Whole Life, or Convertible Term
- Health has changed since the policy was issued
- Premiums are becoming difficult to afford
- Policy is no longer needed or wanted
- Beneficiary circumstances have changed

Handling Client Objections
Common questions and concerns your clients may raise — and how to respond with confidence.
"Isn't this too good to be true?"
Life settlements are state-regulated and have existed since 1911 (Grigsby v. Russell, US Supreme Court). They are a legitimate financial option recognized by FINRA, NAIC, and state insurance departments.
"Will my client's information be safe?"
All information is handled under strict confidentiality agreements. Trust Life Settlements is licensed, bonded, and compliant with state privacy regulations. NDAs are available before any client information is shared.
"How much does it cost my client?"
There is zero cost unless a settlement closes. Trust Life Settlements charges a flat fee (not a percentage), so the vast majority of the settlement goes directly to the client.
"How long does the process take?"
Typical timeline is 60–90 days from application to funding. You'll have real-time visibility into the process through the advisor portal.
"Does my client lose control?"
Your client has full control. They can accept or decline any offer. There is no obligation at any point until they sign a final contract — and even then, many states provide a rescission period.
